Happy New Year! X Factor winner Matt Cardle reportedly racked up an £8,000 bar bill after seeing in 2011 in Newcastle

Having been crowned the winner of the X Factor, Matt Cardle has been enjoying the trappings of his new found fame.

Including racking up a Jay-Z-style bar bill as he and fellow former contestant Aiden Grimshaw enjoyed a very expensive New Year's Eve.

Reports today have claimed that the new pop star landed himself with a £8,000 bill as he partied around Newcastle to see in 2011.

According to the Sun, The Essex lad, 27, was joined by Grimshaw, 19, as they enjoyed a night out at the city's Tup Tup Palace nightclub, where they made sure the drinks were in full flow.

The pair, along with some friends, are believed to have downed four bottles of Ace of Spades champagne, four bottles of Grey Goose vodka, three of Havana rum and three of Jagermeister.

They also went through 50 bottles of beer as well as a long list of cocktails and other drinks.

The newspaper said the pair then had to sneak out of the back door of the exclusive club at 3am to avoid waiting fans.

But it was no early night for the young men as they took the party back to their hotel where they are believed to have carried on for another three hours.

A helping hand: Former X Factor contestant Aiden Grimshaw was with Matt as they partied in the northern city for New Year's Eve

And when the bill came for their late night antics, thakfully for Matt, who landed last year's Christmas Number One, his management were happy to cover half the total.

A source told the paper: 'The boys looked like they were having a great time and were definitely a hit with the ladies. Drinks were flowing all night long.'

The source added that at one stage they were swigging champagne and knocking back 'Jaeger Bombs' - a Jagermeister shot in a glass of Red Bull.

Matt is believed to have been in the city visiting X Factor dancer Sarah Robinson, 24, who he met at the beginning of the live programmes.

Reports last week said after weeks of flirting, the pair decided to give their relationship a go when he was crowned winner of the talent contest and Matt travelled up from Essex to see her for a few days before hitting the town with the lads.

Reese Witherspoon flashes her engagement bling for the first time... at a basketball match

Basketball bling: Reese Witherspoon finally shows off her engagement ring as she and fiancé Jim Toth attend an LA Lakers game on Monday

Reese Witherspoon clearly isn't one to stand on ceremony.

Having announced her engagement to Hollywood agent Jim Toth last week, she's yet to flash her diamonds like a lot of betrothed celebrities.

Instead, the 34-year-old actress chose to be seated in a

sports arena surrounded by thousands of basketball fans as the best place to show off her bling.

Who's winning? Reese and Jim keep one eye on the scoreboard and one on the game

The Legally Blonde star and her new fiancé were snapped at the LA Lakers game on Monday night as they took on the Detroit Pistons at the Staples Center.

And her huge rock was all to clear to see as she clapped the team and showed it off to the world.

The actress had been seen wearing it just hours earlier as she shopped at Giorgio Armani in Beverly Hills and waited for her car from the valet alone.

Perfect shopping accessory: Reese wore her ring for a spree at Giorgio Armani that same day

Then hours later she kept it on for all the world to see since she and Toth announced their engagement on December 28.

Jim, 40, a Hollywood talent agent who manages Robert Downey Jr. and Tobey Maguire, proposed with a 4-carat Ashoka diamond ring set on a pave diamond and platinum band.

That's some sparkler: A close up on Reese's 4 carat diamond ring

Ashoka stones are rare, according to a spokesperson from William Goldberg Diamond Corporation, which produced the custom-designed rock.

And with a jem like that to treasure, it's not surprising that Reese has been keeping it under lock and key and choosing not to wear it.

Sensibly, she has left her ring behind when out jogging, just as she did on the afternoon before the basketball game

It was the same a few days earlier when, on New Year's Eve, the betrothed couple emerged for the first time since announcing their engagement.

They went for a run together and once again, Reese's ring was nowhere to be seen.

There is no word yet on when the pair, who have been dating for around a year, will walk down the aisle.

Meet the Westlife WABs (that's wife and boyfriend) as Mark Feehily and partner holiday with singer Kian and wife Jodi

Feeling shy: Jodi Albert gets on her paddle board in denim shorts and a baggy black top

Usually it's the wives of pop stars flaunting their beach bodies as they holiday in sunny climes.

But Westlife singer Mark Feehily's boyfriend Kevin McDaid, 26, gave ex-Hollyoaks babe Jodi Albert a run for her money.

Mark and Kevin, who was a member of the now defunct boy band V, have been dating since January 2005 and last January they announced their engagement.

The pair strolled on the beach before deciding to take to the waters for some sporty fun with their partners.

The former Hollyoaks star seemed to be very body-conscious as she took to a paddle board in Barbados earlier this week.

While most people enjoying some water sports on holiday would wear a swimsuit or even a two-piece, Albert, 27, was snapped taking to the Caribbean waves in denim shorts and a baggy black top.

It made a change to see the pretty actress come over all shy as she has never been shy about showing off her lovely figure before.

All four of them decided to cool off from the hot sun in the water, with Jodi, Kian and Kevin all taking a paddle board to the waves.

Splashing about: Jodi, husband Kian Egan and Kevin McDaid head out onto the water on their paddle boards

And Jodi wasn't the only one to cover up as her husband of almost two years also decided not to bear his body.

The shy singer stayed under wraps in long surfer shorts and a black t-shirt as he tried his hand at paddle boarding.

And he looked as though he'd failed to stay on top of the board as he went out on it dry but was then snapped looking soaked through as his clothes clung to him.

Bit wet, Kian? But the Westlife star was quick to jump back on board after falling in

Kevin - who wasn't at all shy in his tiny shorts that showed off his muscular frame - looked like a natural however as he sailed past his friends and went to join his fiancé who was seated in a canoe.

The two men chatted to each other and touched their oars together as they bobbed on the water. But later on, Mark had to be rescued by his long-term partner after his canoe capsized.

The pop star was left bobbing up and down in the sea after falling out of his boat as he and Kevin took to the waves.

Mark sailed out inside a red canoe and looked as though he was having a great time until he fell into the water.

Watched by Kevin and Jodi, who were laughing and chatting in the surf before Kevin waded in to help his partner out of the water and on to his board.

Jodi - who is best known for her former role as Debbie Dean in Hollyoaks - and Kian married in Barbados in May 2009 after dating for three years.

Westlife are planning a new chart attack this year after their last single Safe debuted on the UK Singles Chart on 21 November 2010 at number 10, the group's lowest charting single to date.

But speaking to the Daily Star recently, the band, who appeared on last year's X Factor, said: 'The next 12 months are going to be very interesting and exciting in the Westlife camp."

"The Westlife formula has to change and we want to do things differently.'

All better now? Jodi laughs at Mark as he larks about on a paddle board

Losing the will to fight: Cheryl Cole admits she's 'had enough' as she poses in a Burberry biker jacket for a stunning photoshoot in the latest issue of Elle magazine

She launched her solo career over a year ago with the energetic floorfiller Fight For This Love.

But it appears Cheryl Cole isn't feeling quite so feisty anymore, declaring she's 'had enough' after a difficult 2010.

The X Factor judge, 27, admits her self-esteem was so low last year, she can't bear to look at photos of herself.

In an exclusive new interview with Elle magazine, Cheryl reflects on the past 12 months, which saw her divorce husband Ashley, fight a battle with malaria and controversy on the last series of X Factor.

'Take it or leave it, I do not care': Cole said she's detached herself from the public opinion of herself

She tells the publication: 'I have taken so much s**t, I’ve stopped listening to other people. I have had enough.

'There's only so much you can cope with and then you either allow it to swallow you up or you say, "Sod this". I have had it with negativity and bitchiness.

'I want people to like my music but I couldn't give a s**t about what they think of me. Take it or leave it. I do not care.'

Turning her back on the negativity: Cheryl is looking forward to 2011 with a fresh start

Although Cheryl continued her solo career success with her new single Promise This and second album Messy Little Raindrops hitting No.1, her personal life was not so smooth.

The full shoot and interview appears in the February issue of ELLE Magazine, out today

Cheryl and Ashley split last February amid allegations of his infidelity before divorcing in September, and in July came close to death after contracting malaria on a visit to Tanzania with close friend Derek Hough.

Although she considered therapy to help her deal with the fallout from her divorce and illness, she eventually decided against it, explaining: 'I'm not trusting enough to bare my soul to a stranger.

'I'm lucky in that I've got family and friends to turn to. I realise now that it's not a bad thing to lean on people and accept support.

“Toilet no Kamisama” tops charts again thanks to the “Kouhaku Effect”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZYP7VkY-KIendofvid

The success of the award-winning 9 minutes and 52 seconds-long song, “Toilet no Kamisama“, simply doesn’t want to end, not even in 2011.

On New Year’s Eve, singer-songwriter Uemura Kana had the honor of performing an 8-minute version of her hit song at the “61st NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen“, the longest ever performance of a single song in the music festival. While there were many music fans in Japan who knew the song and were eagerly anticipating its performance, there still many others who were introduced to the song for the very first time.

Unsurprisingly, the music fans who were exposed to the song for the very first time must have been overwhelmed by its touching lyrics, and flocked to download portals to purchase it digitally. Consequently “Toilet no Kamisama” has once again reached first place on major download portals for the daily chart of January 3rd, 6 months after its actual release. The industry has labelled this jump in interest as the “Kouhaku Effect“.

Today, Uemura turned 28 and held a special birthday concert in her hometown. At the event she expressed her gratitude towards her new fans. “Thank you for downloading such a long song,” she said. She also described her recent experiences in relation to the ‘Kouhaku effect’: “People call out my name on the street or take pictures in front of my home. All because of Kouhaku. I was really surprised.”

As a homage to her song, Uemura has been sincerely cleaning her toilet and visited her grandmother’s grave on New Year’s. “This year I want to go to a lot of places and let everyone in the country listen to the live version of the song,” she added enthusiastically.

Check out her performance from the Kouhaku Uta Gassen:

'I'm good looking, right?' Justin Bieber on life as a teen heartthrob

endofvid

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Good looking?Justin Bieber on the cover of the February issue of Vanity Fair

His dedicated female fans sent death threats to Selena Gomez after she was spotted kissing Justin Bieber.

So it would be no surprise if the attention had perhaps gone to the young star's head.

'Not trying to be arrogant', he said. 'But if I walked down the street and a girl saw me, she might take a look back because maybe I'm good-looking, right?

The teen singing sensation fronts the February issue of Vanity Fair, and is pictured covered in lipstick kisses.

In the accompanying article he admits that he sometimes feels the pressure of fame.
'Just the way my brain works. I'm not normal.

'I think differently. my mind is always racing. I'm just… nuts. But I think the best [musicians] probably are.'

The 16-year-old tells the magazine his mind is so active that he sometimes suffers from insomnia.

'I think about all the things I didn't have time to think about during the day- like family and God and things that should be more important...'

Who were Justin's favourite musicians growing up? 'I’m definitely influenced by Michael Jackson and Boyz II Men'

Justin also talked about the challenges of trying to be a regular teenager.

'It's hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home. But I can't do that.

'Everything is important. But, you know, my sanity is important, too. Even if I'm angry, I'll just put a smile on my face and fake it.'

The superstar singer took to Twitter this morning to let his fans know about the interview: 'COVER IS OUT and a Behind the Scenes Video. Most intense interview i
ever did. here's the @vanityfairmag cover & more.'

There is no mention of Justin's friendship with Selena Gomez in the interview

As for his musical influences, forget the Beatles or the Rolling Stones.
Justin prefers black American musicians.

'I’m definitely influenced by Michael Jackson and Boyz II Men and people who were black artists—that’s what I like.'

There is no mention in the story of Selena Gomez.

Yesterday the Disney star received a string of death threats after she was pictured kissing Bieber while holidaying on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia.

The young stars have been coy about rumours of romance for several months, however the new pictures, which have surfaced online, seem to have confirmed their
secret relationship.

Justin's fans, who are popularly known as 'Beliebers', posted several hostile messages to the 18-year-old Wizards of Waverly Place star on Twitter.

One message read: 'Roses are red, violets are blue, @selenagomez if you'll break @justinbieber's heart I'm gonna kill you'.

Macca joins the Beach Boys: Sir Paul and Nancy Shevell relax in island paradise

I want to hold your hand: Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell stroll down the beach in Anguilla during their New Year holiday

For a former Beatle on the beach, this was clearly a good day. And there was plenty of sunshine.

To escape our winter, Sir Paul McCartney and his girlfriend, American heiress Nancy Shevell, 50, have been enjoying a New Year break on the exclusive Caribbean island of Anguilla.

The pair, who have been together for more than three years, appeared blissfully happy as they walked hand-in-hand along the beach. Sir Paul - dressed in checked beach shorts - also spent time playing American football with other holidaymakers.

Arm in arm: Despite the obvious affection between the couple, aides have stressed that are not engaged and marriage is not on the cards

Miss Shevell – wearing a floral summer dress – and McCartney have been spending increasing amounts of time together in recent months.

Indeed, she recently brought her father Myron ‘Mike’ Shevell, 74 - a widowed multi-millionaire industrialist - to London to meet the music legend.

The former Beatle continues to live in England – splitting his time between his London and East Sussex homes – while Miss Shevell still resides in the U.S.

Nevertheless, she and McCartney – who has vowed to stay close to daughter Beatrice, seven - regularly travel across the world to spend time together.

Fun and games: The former Beatle shows off his throwing arm as he joined in with American football played by fellow holidaymakers

A friend of the star told the Mail recently: ‘They're really happy together. They’re very well matched. They criss-cross the Atlantic to see each other, with Nancy flying over a lot.’

The pair first met in the Hamptons, where Macca has a house. And there have long been rumours the pair were close to announcing their engagement.

However, aides have been at pains to insist the star and Miss Shevell - herself a divorcee - are not engaged.

Carefree: The couple have been dating for three years and have spent more time together in recent months than previously, despite Sir Paul's jet-setting lifestyle

‘They get on so well – but marriage isn’t an issue to them at the moment,’ the friend told the Mail.

Macca’s first wife Linda - who he wed in 1969 - died from breast cancer in 1998.

He then married model and charity campaigner Heather Mills in 2002 before their acrimonious divorce in 2006 in which she received a settlement of £24.3million.

Before marrying Linda, he also had a short-lived engagement with actress Jane Asher.

He had been dating Miss Asher since 1963 before they became engaged in December 1967. However, the relationship ended less than a year later.
